Easter Bunny

The easter bunny visited us on Saturday so we could have that day be the "fun" day and Sunday we could focus a little more on Christ and why we celebrate Easter. The boys were so excited all week, wondering where the easter bunny would hide their baskets and eggs.

Here are their baskets, they got jammies, underwear, bubble guns, candy, an outfit, books, and toothbrushes...

Sunday evening we had family night and talked about Christ, the atonement, and the resurrection. The twins really seem to understand the concept and I was so proud of them. I'm so grateful for Easter and the reminder it is to me of Christ's love for me and for everyone. He suffered for our sins, died for us, and was resurrected so that we too could be resurrected and live with our Heavenly Father and families in heaven forever. Happy Easter everyone!

Coloring Easter Eggs

Thursday night we grilled hamburgers on the bbq for dinner then colored easter eggs!

Tyce was really tired, he's gone almost all week without a nap so he was worn out by Thursday night. He laid on the couch watching Mickey Mouse for a while...Then decided to join in on the fun...Tyce's favorite egg was, of course, his one with the Mickey Mouse sticker on it...The boys loved their animal eggs...

After we were done coloring eggs it was BEDTIME! The boys were exhausted and fell asleep in under two minutes. It was a great day as a family, I love my boys so much and love my husband for the father that he is to them.

Spring Break Part 2

After lunch we headed out to Herndon to Woody's Golf to play this cool Perils of the Lost Jungle miniature golf course. It was a really fun place. It's an outdoor jungle safari theme and it's very entertaining and a little scary! The animatronics are pretty real!

First hole!See that box thing behind Parker? Poor Tyce walked by it right when the kimodo dragon comes out at you and makes a loud noise. He was so scared! This tomb was closed, Josh had to put his hand on this handprint thing and it opened. Once you hit your ball through you have to go in. Haha, the boys were such wusses and wouldn't go in without Parker and I. Once we all got in, the tomb doors shut tight which TERRIFIED Tyce, poor guy...This guy was such an angel. He was tired, scared, and a little bored but he was such a trooper...We had a great time and the boys loved that place and are already asking if we can go back so they can be "more brave." Hahaha. Josh was pretty good at golfing, only losing to Parker and I by three! Jack would kinda drag the ball instead of it hit so he had a pretty high score, haha but he had fun!

After golf we stopped at Nathan's for some yummy ice cream cones...

Spring Break Part 1

I had grand plans for the week of spring break. I didn't want the boys to get bored so I tried to schedule something fun every day. However, plans changed when poor Josh got a horrible case of strep throat. He had a fever of 105 for most of the day Monday and was sicker than I've ever seen him. So we didn't get out and about much until today! Parker had arranged to have today off so we could do something fun as a family which was nice. We had so much fun today that it will take THREE posts to cover it all! :)

First we headed off to Frying Pan Park/Kidwell Farm, a real working farm about 20 minutes away from our house. It was a perfect day and not too crowded considering it's spring break. They were excited to "drive" the tractors...

Oh, and yes, they insisted on wearing their cowboy clothes. Well, if there's ever a time where they could wear these and NOT look out of place...this would be the time! We got tons and tons of compliments on these adorable cowboys...They were fascinated by the washboard and basin, they couldn't believe that people actually used to wash their clothes this way...Best friends/cowboys...This was the first thing Tyce would pet, he's kinda a wuss. He warmed up to this lamb pretty quick though. We came at a good time because lots of the spring babies were there. Baby goats, chicks, lamb, piglets, calves, etc. "Yee-haw" Josh said as he rode the carousel horse!While daddy, Tyce, and Josh were on the carousel Jackson and I went on a wagon ride around the farm...It was a cute place and the boys had lots of fun. After we left we went to grab some lunch at one of our favorite Italian places, Bertucci's. The boys love it because they give the kids bread dough to play with. Here they are being silly (and I know it looks like they were screaming but they weren't, they were good boys)!

After lunch we headed to this awesome miniature golf place...next post coming soon!!!

Kite Festival

Saturday we headed up to DC for the kite festival. First we stopped at the Library of Congress for their children's display of Japanese culture. Here's Jack and Tyce dressed up in kimonos... Josh's origami cat...

After the kite festival we headed back home to fly kites at a park, where we had more room to run with them. Jackson LOVED flying his kite and kept yelling "this is the best windy day of my life! No other day will ever be this fun!" Hahaha, so cute.

It was a fun day, but taking kids to DC is always exhausting. I'm just not really a big city girl I've decided. I hate the traffic, the crowds, the rude people, the expense, etc. Before we got on the metro I had to go to the bathroom really bad. Of course the line for the women's restroom was like an hour long so I decided to go to McDonalds to go to the bathroom, but of course they won't let you use their restrooms unless you buy something, so I buy a nasty strawberry shake, go to the bathroom, come out, my shake still isn't ready. I ask for my shake, am rudely told that it is coming. I wait five more minutes, everyone else has gotten their meals but I'm still waiting. I finally ask a girl who's restocking the straws for my shake, she sighs, annoyed, but finally makes it for me. Then I meet back up with Parker and the boys and he tells me I can't bring my shake on the metro. SO, stupid me, puts it in his backpack really tightly compacted where it shouldn't spill. Well, when we finally get to the kite festival and open up the backpack, it has spilled ALL over the backpack. So I use all my baby wipes to clean that mess up and hope that I won't need them later. Luckily, I didn't.

But I'm glad that we are able to do fun stuff like this while we live out here. It's one of the many perks of living here. :)
