Jackson Loves Daddy

Jackson really really loves his daddy, they are very close and it melts my heart.  The other day Jackson wrote this for Parker then left it in his underwear drawer for him to find...

It says: You are the best Dad a kid could ask for.  You are a fun dad.  Wise Dad.  Kind Dad.  Strong Dad.  Fair Dad.  Tough Dad.

I love you SO much.  From Jackson to The Best Daddy

I thought that was such a thoughtful note and also very true!  I told Parker I hoped his giant head could fit through the doorway after reading this.  :)

Basketball is Over!

Saturday the twins played in their last basketball game of the season.  They finished the season 0-11!  Yep, they lost every single game!  They didn't have a coach at the beginning to draft players so we ended up getting all the shorter younger kids.  Every team we played had at least four or five players significantly taller than Jackson (the tallest on our team).  The other teams also had a couple 8 year olds, we had one 7 year old and the rest were all 6 year olds.  So it was frustrating because I didn't feel like it was fair to begin with but...as my dad always says...life is not fair!  Jackson and Josh didn't seem to care much that they lost.  They had fun and got lots of playing time so that made them happy.  Here are some pics from the end of the season party...

Nikolas, Jackson, and Jahan enjoying their pizza...
 Jackson getting his trophy...
Josh was super excited about his.  He said "mommy we get trophies even though we lost?"  I told him, "yes you do at this age but not in real life!"
 Josh, Tyce, and Keandre...
 Team picture...
Basketball trophies with their names on it, what more could these boys want?!
I'm sad to see the season come to an end.  I love watching them play and I really enjoyed chatting with some of the other moms on the team.  It was also something to keep us busy when Parker is working so much.  But we won't be bored for long because t-ball starts in April!  Ah, my least favorite sport but I do enjoy watching THEM play!  The things we do for our kids!  :)

Fun with My Parents!

My parents flew in Friday night, we picked them up from the airport then went to the yummy Cheesecake Factory for dinner!  Saturday morning the boys had a basketball game.  They lost but Jackson played really well.  He is really understanding defense and he did a great job for his team.  He was the MVP of the game and was pretty excited...

Here's their team picture, Coach Dominic, Nikolas, Jahan, Jackson, Abraham, Keandre, Domingo, Josh, and Jadan...
They spent a lot of time playing games...
 We went bowling...

My mom got them their first 250 piece puzzle...
They were pretty proud when they finished it...

We went to DC one afternoon to meet Parker for lunch.  Here's his new window office...
 Parker enjoying his sushi...

Saturday was a beautiful day so we went to the park for a picnic (the ground was still wet from the snow so they were on the concrete)...
After playing in their basketball game for 1.5 hours they played at the park for another 4 hours...
Needlesss to say, they were VERY tired that night..
Grandma and Grandpa took the boys out of school to go out to lunch.  They chose Taco Bell and they thought they were pretty cool getting to miss some school...
The time flew by and I already miss them so much.  I love that my parents make such an effort to come see us so frequently, all of us love spending time with them.  I LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD!!!

The good news is...Michelle comes in 2 weeks for the twins' spring break!  We're all excited to have her come!

Snow Day!

After a long cold lame winter Virginia FINALLY decided to grace us with some snow!  They predicted 4 to 12 inches, I'd say we got about 5 inches which was just enough to go sledding and build a snowman and snow fort!  We ate breakfast then headed over to Signal Hill Park to play.  Oh, and of COURSE school was cancelled!

Getting ready to sled!  They're all very daring and not the least bit scared...

Tyce making a snow angel.  Poor guy had high water snow pants and rain boots instead of snow boots so he got lots of snow on his ankles and feet so he didn't last too long...

Cute Jack walking up the hill...
 Joshy...
 Beautiful...

Daddy and Tyce making a snow man.  The snow was super wet and super heavy so it was quite the workout!

 The snowfort...

Josh played nonstop for three hours despite the cold, wind, and wet snow coming down.  He came home soaking wet with a wind burned face.  The rest of the day we just chilled at home because everything was closed despite the fact that the roads were totally clear!  And, don't worry, school is cancelled again today because...it's 44 degrees, sunny, and the snow is melting?  It's so weird out here!  We're loving having my parents here...pics of that to come soon!

Jackson Blayne

A couple nights ago Jackson texted me from Parker's phone and this is what it said:

hello mommy. you are the best mom ever. I love you mommy. you are funny. you're the best mom I have ever met. you make the yummiest dinners ever. you make my favorite dinner. like chicken enchiladas. you give us the best lunches ever. I love your hugs and kisses. from Jackson.

I absolutely melted when I read that because it was so thoughtful!  It's always rewarding as a mom to hear that your kids DO realize the things you do for them, like cooking them dinner and making them lunches to take to school.  He is such a sweetheart!

A couple weeks ago Jackson and I were both sick so we each had a walkie talkie to get a hold of each other when we were on different levels and didn't want to yell.  It was so precious because I would get these random "I love you mommy" calls from Jack, too sweet.

One day when I brought him home from school because he was sick I was tucking him into bed to rest and he started crying big huge sad tears.  I asked him what was the matter?  He told me "every morning when I wake up I worry that I am going to get sick and die mommy."  Oh it broke my heart that my little 6 year old was laying in bed worrying about dying!  I cuddled him and told him that he will be very very old before he dies, and I truly hope that is the case.

Another thing I wanted to document, a couple weeks ago I picked the boys up from the bus stop and when I asked Jack how school was he got a very worried look on his face.  I asked him what happened?  He said "on the way to the bus after school Mason and I got carried away playing and I accidentally hit him in the face.  Mrs. Johnson told me she will deal with me tomorrow."  His face was complete despair and remorse and my heart melted for him, he felt so bad.  I think he was sad in part because he hurt his friend and in large part because he adores his teacher and has never gotten in trouble at school before.  He then decided to make Mason an apology card all on his own...

It says, "I am sorry I hit you Mason on the way to the bus.  You are the best friend ever.  Can you forgive me.  You are so nice to me.  Can we still be friends."

Then he taped a dollar from his piggy bank inside for Mason.  TOO SWEET!!  Needless to say, I did not feel the need to punish him for what he did as it was very evident he felt extremely guilty.

A couple days later I went to their class and I saw Mason and asked him if he liked Jackson's card.  Mason said, "oh yes I loved it but I had already forgiven him right after it happened!"  Haha, so cute.

Jackson is definitely a sensitive boy.  Often times he is difficult because he is OVER sensitive but often times he melts my heart because he is sensitive to the needs of others more than most boys his age.

I LOVE YOU JACKSON!!!
