Fun Day at Massanutten!!!

Saturday morning after the twins' basketball game we headed to Massanutten Resort to go skiing and snowboarding!  Parker has been wanting to take the twins all winter but he's been so busy at work we just haven't had the time.  The twins were SO excited!  The two hour drive was beautiful, I loved cruising the wide open roads (if you know me at all you know I love to drive fast and get very annoyed by traffic, slow people, and stop lights...which is pretty much a summary of driving in the DC metro area).  Parker and I really enjoyed the much needed time to just chat while the twins watched a movie in the back.  When we got close to the resort we stopped and grabbed lunch at Dairy Queen (I'm 30 years old and still LOVE peanut butter cup blizzards!)...

Then we headed up the "mountain," or at least Virginia's version of a mountain.  Once we got all decked out in our gear we were ready to rock...

Jack has been asking to try snowboarding all winter.  Our friends Lori and Adam have a little cheap snowboard that Jack loved to ride down our sledding hill.  Parker tried to convince him to ski instead because snow boarding is hard and frustrating but Jack was insistent he wanted to snowboard.  Well, he did awesome!  He learned so quickly and even got on and off the ski lifts by himself!  I was super proud of him.  One time I was on the lift with him and this other snowboarder got on with us and went on and on about how awesome Jack was doing.
Parker rocked the Black Diamond, which, according to him, was pretty pathetic compared to Utah's but he still had fun.  I think he's looking forward to us all learning so we can stop holding him back.  :)
Josh and I had a lot of fun going down together then riding the lift together, we had some great talks and laughs.

 Josh on the lift...
Jack snowboarding...
One time when I was going down with him he literally went right under this lady's legs, took her out, her skis flew off, he rolled, she was a great sport about it and was laughing hysterically.
Daddy and Jack getting off.  Notice how Parker isn't even wearing a coat?  It was BEAUTIFUL weather!  55 and sunny!

We just paid for a 4 hour pass because a) it's expensive and b) we thought for sure they'd be tired by then.  WE WERE WRONG!  They were NOT ready to leave!  Josh even told me he's going to save his own money so we can stay longer next time, haha so cute.
We grabbed dinner at Tropical Smoothie Café then headed home, Jackson fell asleep the last 10 minutes...
It was the perfect day, I had so much fun!  I was pretty proud of myself...no falls!  This was only my second time skiing in my life and I think I did pretty good!  I wish it was closer and cheaper so we could do it more often but for now we'll just enjoy the times we DO get to go.

Where was Tyce you ask?  He was at his favorite place on earth...
At Traci's house, wearing fairy wings.

Traci had the fabulous idea that I go skiing with Parker and the twins and offered to keep Tyce all day Saturday and let him spend the night.  Needless to say, Tyce was beyond thrilled.  He LOVES Traci's house.  They made cinnamon rolls, played at the park, went to Target, made pizza, dressed up, and did lots of other girly things.  When I went to pick him up Sunday morning he took one look at me, got a HUGE scowl on his face, and said "why are you here?  Why do you ALWAYS come pick me up?  Why can't I live at Traci's?"  Haha, punk.  He had so much fun and I am so grateful for an amazing best friend who knows what I need even when I don't.  I never would've gone had she not offered to watch Tyce, and I so would've missed out!  THANKS TRACI!!!

Jackson Starts Piano Lessons!

Jackson has been asking to do piano lessons for a few months now.  Parker has been trying to teach him but since he is rarely home on the weekdays it just wasn't enough.  When Jack decided not to play baseball this year we decided to sign him up for "real" piano lessons instead.  He was SO excited for his first lesson...

His teacher, a friend from our ward, Lori Gregory...
 Practicing...

Here's his practice chart, when he gets 12 stickers (12 good practices) he gets to go play laser tag with daddy...

I am proud of him and really hope he keeps it up so he can play like Parker.  A guy that can play the piano is quite the catch.  :)

A few other pics.  Here's a cute one of Josh and Tyce one morning under my covers...
Just eating breakfast on a snow day...
On yet ANOTHER snow day we went to IHOP with some of Tyce's preschool friends for National Pancake Day...free short stack for everyone!!!

Visitors

Here's what's been going on at our house these days...

Last week the twins were being mean to Tyce and one of them apparently told him that he was "not their real brother."  He came upstairs bawling and genuinely devastated.  I showed him this picture...
And said, do you think you two look like real brothers?  Tyce's face lit up, YES WE DO!  Haha, Josh and Tyce certainly look more alike than Jack and Josh do!  I later talked to the twins about it and they apparently meant he wasn't a TWIN brother but I told them he is still every bit as much of a "real" brother as both of them.  Poor Tyce, I really wish he could've come with a twin also!

Josh and his favorite snuggle buddy...
My best friend from high school, Jo, came to visit from Seattle with her husband, Tom.  They were only here for one day and night but we got plenty of talking, laughing, and eating in because...that's what we do!  It was so good to see her!  We only got one pic...
The boys and Adam playing Headbands...
My dad had a quick business trip in DC so he stayed one extra night to see us!  Here we are on our way to dinner...
 At the twins' basketball practice...
Of course grandpa had to make them all into hot dogs...

 And diapers...
 Prayer time...
It was almost just a mean tease to only have him here for one night.  Haha, Jackson goes, "mommy why do all our guests lately only stay ONE night instead of LOTS of nights?!"  I told him that grandpa and grandma would be back in March to stay for a whole week and we are SO looking forward to that!

Valentine's Day

As my dad always says, Happy Forced Affection Day!  I've never been a fan of this day, whether I was single, dating, or married.  I think your significant other should show you they love you a) more than once a year and b) because they want to and thought to not because a holiday told them to.  Parker learned many years ago not to get me flowers or chocolates on February 14th.  Randomly throughout the year?  Absolutely.  Just not on Valentine's Day.  Enough about that.  THAT BEING SAID, I still want to make it a fun day for my boys.  We had our annual scavenger hunt to find their goody bags...

 Jack's stuff...
 Josh's stuff...
 Tyce's stuff...

10 clues took them all over the house in search of their prizes...

 They were super excited...

Tyce has been asking for a Mickey Mouse calendar for so long...he was SO excited...

Jackson was super excited about this Cowboy poster...

And Josh loved his Redskins one...

The night before Valentine's Day Parker had to work from home because of the snow so we got a sitter and headed out to Ruth's Chris for a yummy steak dinner!  The roads weren't great but traffic was minimal so we cruised down 66 and got there in time for our reservations!  We had a fabulous night...
Parker and his salad and calamari which, by the way, was delicious!!!

Happy Valentine's Day to my hubby...I LOVE YOU!!!
