You Don't Matter

"Tyce doesn't matter if he has the small dinosaur."

"Mrs. Morton doesn't matter if I bring this to preschool."

"Mommy, you don't matter do you?"

Haha, just in case Jackson ever tells you that you "don't matter," don't be offended...he means you don't CARE.

Oregon!

Lindsay and I took a short trip to Oregon over the weekend. It was a much needed getaway! We both flew in Thursday afternoon, my parents picked us up from the airport, and then we had lunch in Portland. Once we got back to Salem we stopped at our elementary school and were able to walk around inside. It brought back SO many memories! I can't believe how little has changed! I think with the exception of new computers (no more green screened Apple 2 E's) everything else was the same! Then we stopped at Willamette Sparks Center, which is where I spent most of my life it seems. That's where my swim team practiced and as soon as I walked in I felt like I was 15 again walking in for practice. Then we came home and my mom made the best halibut EVER!!! Yet another thing I miss about Oregon, the amazing halibut.

Friday we went to La Hacienda, a yummy mexican restaurant, with our good family friends Tom and Myrna Marley. Tom never fails to make us laugh so it was an entertaining lunch, to say the least! Then my mom, sis, and I went downtown to do some shopping. After that we stopped by my grandparent's house and chatted for a couple hours. Around 9pm we decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner. My grandma has always HATED Olive Garden but that night, she loved it!
Saturday we were super lazy, watching family videos, resting, and playing games. For dinner we went to a yummy sandwhich place then came back and played games! Playing games with my grandparents is hands down one of my most favorite things to do. They are SO hilarious! It was so nice to be able to spend time with my wonderful grandparents...My adorable parents...
Linds and I with our favorite cat, Mocha. He's getting old and sick so this may be the last time we see him. Don't mind our greasy shiny faces, haha.

It was a great weekend of relaxing, being spoiled by my mom's delicious cooking, and lots of laughs with my family. I missed my boys and Parker a lot though. Being out there made me realize two things. First off, I really do love being a mom and wife and wouldn't trade it for all the sleeping in and alone time in the world. Second off, I really really want to move closer to family. For now though, I'll try to make the most of our time out here. I'll do another post on Parker's weekend with the kids later!

Game Day!

Today is the National Championship game and we are cheering for our Oregon Ducks! Here the boys are in their cute Oregon outfits...

Cutest Duck fans ever! Parker and I are looking forward to putting them down for bed and enjoying the game together! I got my Diet Coke ready to keep me awake! :)

Lonely...

Today is one of those days where I would give almost anything to live near family. It's Saturday, Parker has to go into work all day. He is so incredibly busy lately and it's only going to get worse. I fear this working on Saturdays will be happening frequently. Of course, he had to take our car into DC because the train doesn't run on Saturdays. So, I'm stuck home all day alone with the kids. It's 9:30am and they're already restless. My friends are all busy with their own lives and so I'm left with an emptiness that can only be filled with family. Today would be a perfect day to spend at Grandma's house. Today would be a perfect day to go hang out with my little sis and her husband, who always makes me laugh. Today would be a perfect day to go up and see my nephew and new niece. Today would be the perfect day to hang out my grandparents. I have always been so close to my family I wonder why it turned out that I was the only one that had to move away? People say when you move away from family that you get closer as an individual family. However, I have not seen that happening at all. I also feel so sorry for my boys who have no grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins around. I feel like they are so missing out on all the fun. Yesterday Parker's entire family took a train to Glenwood Springs, Colorado and are having a great time. Jackson and Josh would have LOVED that. Instead, here we are. I know I should be grateful Parker has a stable job, and I am, but I hate that it requires him to work so much and it requires us to live so far away from everyone I know and love. How can I learn to be happy out here? Morrills, Owens, Petersens, and Barracloughs could you all please move out here??? That would really solve everything!

A Typical Morrill Morning...

So nothing exciting is going on here so I thought I'd just post a typical morning in the Morrill household. Not because it's particularly exciting but because, 30 years from now when my house is quiet and the kids are gone and I am reading my blog book, it will remind me of this time in my life.

The kids wake up around 7:30am. Tyce sometimes wakes up earlier but sits in his crib and talks and plays. It's so cute to listen to. He'll sit in there for an hour perfectly happy. We do tubs first thing. Tyce loves to get naked, put his jammies in the laundry basket, go pet Brody, then run to the tub...
They love mommy's tub because it's big...Josh makes his bed every morning... While they're playing in the tub I fold laundry, get their clothes laid out for the day, and get myself ready to go to the gym...Then we get dressed and go down for breakfast. They usually get to watch one 30 minute cartoon while they eat..Breakfast consists of juice, cereal or oatmeal, and 1/3 banana. If they eat fast they sometimes get sugared cereal for a treat...Tyce always brings the boys their backpacks, it's cute he knows which one goes to which brother...Then we go upstairs to brush teeth. They brush their own in the mornings, I do it at night...Then we run out the door for preschool at 9am!
I do miss our leisurely mornings before preschool where we would just lounge around until about 11am when we would head to the gym. However, this is good to get me up and going. Plus, Josh and Jackson absolutely LOVE preschool! It is the highlight of their day. Sorry if this is a boring post but, like I said, I want to remember this time of my life. :)
