Happy 30th Birthday to Me!

Ah, I'm 30!!!  Yesterday was a fun day, Parker totally pulled off a surprise party for me!

Monday afternoon Parker called me to inform me that he had to go to Los Angeles for work and would be gone for my birthday.  I was super disappointed but knew that it wasn't his fault and was relieved that I would still have my parents here with me.  The morning of my birthday Parker left at 5am for the "airport" (complete with packed suitcases and a hanging garment bag).  I got up and went to the gym, came home and got ready, then my parents, the boys, and I went school clothes shopping and out to dinner.  When we came home from dinner I walked up the stairs and was completely surprised to see some of my friends there yelling SURPRISE!  My very first thought was, oh Parker planned a party but then had to go to LA!  Then I looked over on the couch and there he was!

He had totally made up the going to LA story and had planned me a little surprise party!  I was SO surprised and felt so loved.  I can't believe he pulled it off, he is a terrible liar and I can always read him.  He definitely couldn't have pulled it off without the help of Traci and my parents.  It was a super fun night and I appreciated my friends that came.

After everyone left I opened my presents, I got new running gear and See's Candies...haha, so symbolic of me!  I run, so I can eat...

I didn't think turning 30 would affect me like it did, I've been super grumpy and just not happy.  The party definitely cheered me up and now I've decided just to embrace it and change what is making me unhappy so I can be happy.  :)

Update

Before summer ends and fall begins I thought I'd do a quick update on the rest of our summer after we got back from Utah...

Date night for Parker and I has always been very important to both of us.  We crave time together without the boys and try to go out at least every other weekend.  We always have so much to talk about and so much fun just being Parker and Jenn...

Kimberly and I took the kids to Lake Anna, it was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast playing in the warm lake and the sand while Kimberly and I chatted the day away...

On the way home we stopped at the Moo-Thru for ice cream...
Haha, don't mind how high up Tyce's swimming suit is...nerd alert!!!

Tyce thinks he's pretty cool in his new Mickey Mouse outfit, sunglasses, and "cwocs"...

We had another playdate with Kimberly and the kids and here's Jakey and Tyce playing the Wii (probably Tyce's first time ever and he had no idea what he was doing but he wanted to play because Jake was)...

We went backpack shopping...

The twins got to go to a fun Despicable Me 2 themed birthday party...

Jackson has decided he loves doing dishes, fine by me!!!

We've been spending a lot of time at our pool, Brody usually comes with us and sits under my lounge chair.  The other day we were there for 6 hours and I was worried he was getting thirsty and hot so I gave him some water...

Tyce and Parker washing the car...

The twins earned a special night with daddy and they chose to stay up late, eat ice cream, and watch the Redskins Steelers game...

In other news, we are all getting ready for school to start.  The twins will be in 2nd grade this year and I have decided (after much worry and debate) to separate them for the first time.  I have mixed feelings about it, as do they, but we'll see how it goes.  We will meet their teachers next week.  Tyce will be starting preschool every day 9-12 and he is SO excited!  My parents come to town in a couple days to celebrate my birthday (30!!!) and go to the BYU/Virginia football game!  We're super excited for that because, living out here, we never get to see BYU play!  Go Cougars!!!

Utah Week 4: Last Week in Neola

Friday morning the boys all decided they wanted to catch frogs in the pond with Grandma and Grandpa.  Since they needed a net to catch them in they headed to the local hardware store.  While there, Jackson pulled a 10 pound downrigger off the shelf and it dropped on his bare toe.  Michelle brought him to the hospital and Parker and I met them there.  When Parker walked in and asked where his son was the nurse said "just follow the screaming."  Poor Jackson was in a lot of pain...

He broke a small bone in his toe but the bigger problem was the swelling hematoma under the nail...

Now he's on crutches and we're hoping it will heal quickly...

Poor guy had to rest on the couch while all his brothers and cousins played on the tramp...
Later in the day we headed down to the pond to catch frogs...

Grandpa Morrill was quite the expert frog catcher and the kids were super impressed and excited...

 Tyce and Kate...
Josh and Luke...
 Fun on the tramp...
Posing with the frogs and the snake they found...
Saturday morning we got up early, packed, and headed out to SLC for family pictures.  Here is a sneak preview of the pics, I am waiting for the CD then I'll do a blog post of them all...

After pictures we had lunch and then headed to the airport.  It was awful saying goodbye to everyone, just awful.  I always seem to have the hardest time saying goodbye to Michelle, I don't know why but the tears always come.  I hate leaving family, it reminds me how badly I wish we lived closer and didn't have to say these goodbyes.

Flying home was HELL!  We were supposed to land at midnight in DC and we ended up landing about 4:30am.  We got to sit on the plane in SLC for an hour, only to de-board, wait, re-board, wait, drive to the runway, and wait, and wait and wait.  We finally got to Denver about 9:30pm, waited there a couple hours, then finally got on the flight home.  The boys were ANGELS, they were so tired and sick of planes and airports but they were so good.  Parker and I were super tired and grumpy but put on happy faces and we got through it.

During one of the long waits in SLC the pilot invited the boys to come in the cockpit, they were pushing buttons and freaking Parker and I out but the pilot didn't seem at all concerned!  They thought they were pretty cool...

We all got to bed about 6am (just about when the sun was coming up).  Jack and I woke up at 11 but Josh, Parker, and Tyce slept until about 3pm.  Needless to say, we are still on a way messed up schedule!

Ah it was an AMAZING month!  When I booked the trip I thought that, after being gone for a month, I would totally be ready to come home BUT...I wasn't.  The boys weren't ready either.  But too bad, our life is here and that is reality.  Thanks everyone for an awesome awesome awesome time!!!
