End of Summer

School starts in three days so here's a look at what we've been up to these last summer days...

Slip n slide party at Lori's...

The boys have spent SO much time riding their bikes this summer...
One day I even let them ride in the rain...

About a week ago I had a ganglion cyst removed from my wrist...
The surgery and recovery were much worse than I expected...

The first 48 hours were awful, I was in such pain and could not get comfortable ever.  So thankful for Rebekah and Traci for watching my boys!
I get the splint off in a week then it will take about a month to get full range of motion back.  It has been SO hard functioning with only one hand.  If I try using my hand that was operated on it really gets sore fast.  Everything is just so...hard!  Last night I was trying to make dinner and it took me nearly half an hour to open a can.  I was in tears and so frustrated.  Folding laundry is super hard.  Showers are hard.  Getting ready is hard.  It's just not in my nature to be lazy, inactive, helpless, and pathetic and that is exactly what I am right now.  I'm normally fast paced and independent now I'm slow and dependent!  I hate it.

Parker took the boys to a Nats game and had dinner on the roof of his office.  Sounds like they had a blast and even got free (adult large) t-shirts!

Tyce learned to tie his shoes!  It took him an hour one night and half hour the next morning and he got it!

Ummm...my son is 8 and his feet are almost as big as mine...
COLLEGE FOOTBALL HAS STARTED!!  We love cheering on our Cougars and Ducks and, in honor of the first BYU game of the season and the last weekend before school starts we let the boys stay up late.  Tyce fell asleep during the first quarter, Jack lasted to the third, Josh middle of the fourth...
 Lastly, I had a birthday!  I'm 31 and am a mess!

Tyce made these sweet cards for me all by himself the morning of my bday while I was sleeping and Parker was at work...notice my cast and boot in this picture...
"Daddy said you love dolphins and Brody so that's what I drew"...
Hahaha hilarious he drew a cell phone too!  LOVE my Tyce!
We went to BWW for dinner...
Parker and the boys got me sunglasses, a hat, a shirt, and a running jacket...
Can't say it was the best bday ever but, given the circumstances, it was fine.

School starts Tuesday so I'll post pics of that and Back to School night soon.

P.S. Typing with one hand is hard and slow!!

Fun, Fun, Fun

Anna banana is sure growing up and Jackson and Josh are so sweet with her, just like they were with Leah and Anna.  So grateful for our pseudo cousins!

King Brody loves to lay on Josh's pillow and he meows until you open the curtains and blinds for him to look outside...
Kimberly and I took the kids to Atlantis Waterpark and they had a blast (except when poor Jakey fell and split his mouth open!)...

We spent a day at Kimberly's pool.  The twins had been playing with Brianna but towards the end some of her neighbor friends (girls) came to the pool so Jackson and Josh quietly retreated, made their little forts, and were spying on the girls and giggling.  It was hilarious and made them seem so grown up!

Poor Jackson fell down the stairs and sprained his ankle pretty bad.  He has been so tough hopping on one foot trying to keep up with his brothers and friends because he HATES to miss out on playing!  It is still super swollen but he tells me it feels a little better.  Hoping for a speedy recovery...
Sweet boy getting carried to bed...
I'm not going to lie, I love lazy summer mornings.  This particular morning we laid in bed until TEN AM!!!  It was glorious and, clearly, Brody enjoyed it also...

Virginia is having an abnormally BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL COOL summer!!  We have not had 90s temps at all, the humidity has been low, it's even cooled down at night!  It is so fantastic to be able to be outside in August!  My boys have definitely taken advantage of it and are outside pretty much all day every day.  One day I had nine neighborhood boys on my watch...

They had so much fun together!  I love our neighborhood.  Today like 7 boys all rode bikes and had races for over two hours.  THAT'S what boys should be doing!

We had the girls over to play one afternoon, I think the three of them have been having withdrawals from each other!  They did play dough and my floor was a disaster but they had fun...
Tyce had his five year check up and was stinkin adorable in his paper shirt..
He weighs 46 lbs (90%), is 47 inches tall (97%), and his BMI is in the 30%.  He is tall and slim!  He is projected to be 6'3" which is such a weird thought!  I realize I will most likely be the shortest in my family it's just so weird to think of my kids ever being bigger than me!  He passed his hearing and vision with flying colors and I am so glad he is healthy and happy!
Kimberly and I took the kids to Prince William Forest this week for a picnic...
 To play at the park...
And we did a short hike to this fun little creek and bridge that the kids played at for four hours and STILL didn't want to leave...

They loved dropping big rocks off the bridge and seeing how big the splashes were...

Jake and Tyce spent hours looking for these tiny tiny tiny shells...

It was a perfect day (except poor Kimberly woke up with a TON of bug bites!) and the kids had so much fun.  It was so weird to be outside in Virginia in August and not be SWEATING!  I could sure get used to this!  It's been cooler than Utah or Oregon even!

In other words I got my MRI results back today and the good news is I do NOT have to be non weight bearing, aka crutches.  I am thrilled about that because I did four days on crutches and wanted to die!  The bad news is I have two torn tendons, bone marrow edema, and a fragment of bone has pulled away from the navicular bone.  Best case scenario though, six weeks in this walking boot should heal everything.  There is a small chance of surgery if it doesn't heal properly but I am thinking positively!  I still can't exercise but at least I can walk and function daily!  Next week I am having surgery to have a ganglion cyst removed from my wrist and I can't do much for two weeks after so I will be down from head to toe but THEN...in about six weeks...I should be good to go!!!  Fingers crossed.
