Neighborhood Fun

This summer a new family moved into our neighborhood, Lori and Matt and their son Adam.  Lori is my age (a rare find, I think all my friends are older than me!) and Adam is a year older than the twins.  Lori is a stay at home mom (another rare find, out here it is hard to live off of one income so most moms work) and we get along great.  After school we plop into our lawn chairs while the boys run around the neighborhood having a blast.  With the exception of this week (rain rain rain) we do it every day so the kids are active and having fun while Lori and I chat.  As the four of them play, suddenly other kids come out and it ends up being like 10 boys (and one girl) running around playing boy stuff like bad guys/good guys, bike races, shoot em up games, etc.  We live in a very safe secluded area and I love that the boys can play outside like I did growing up.

I snapped some pics the other day...

Jackson's reaction to his beloved Cowboys loss...

Tyce starting out cheering for the Cowboys but, upon seeing they were going to lose, switched sides...
Monday I headed up to DC to have lunch with Parker.  For the first time in the four years I've lived here I got street parking!  $4 instead of $20!  Between the government shutdown and the rain downtown felt quite empty!
We went out to Red Robin as a family, Josh and daddy shared a brownie mint oreo shake (yuck!)...
And Jack and I shared an oreo shake (yum!)  Tyce does NOT like ice cream or shakes...
We went to the library with the neighbor friends, Adam and Caleb...

Last night we had Adam over for a sleepover.  Here they are getting ready to watch their movie...
Adam chose to sleep with Tyce (they get along great, I think Adam enjoys having a "little brother").  He got a little nervous about 10:45pm so I walked him home.  In the morning Lori had them all over for breakfast which they loved.
Since Lori had the boys, Parker and I were able to go RUNNING together!  We so rarely get to run together and it was awesome.  It was raining and overcast and I had my hubby by my side, couldn't have been happier.  Running and Parker...my two loves.  :)
Tyce looks so forward to Mondays and Wednesdays when he gets to play with Leah and Sarah, the three of them get along SO well!
Tyce has had birthday parties the last two weekends and he LOVES going to them.  He always asks me if I can just drop him off and not come in, haha.  He gets out of the car, "I love you mommy and I will miss you but don't come in until it's over!"  Hahaha.  Here he is getting ready to go to his friend Luke's party today...

Exciting news...Auntie Lindsay and Luke come to visit in 5 days!!!  Can't wait!!!

Tyce's First Field Trip

Tyce had his first field trip this week!  He was SO excited about it.  They went to Ticonderoga Farms and it was a super cute place.  Other than the fact that it was HOT (88 degrees and super sunny) it was the perfect day.

Tyce and his friend Kenshi...
Tyce on the hayride with his friends and his teacher, Mrs. Blue...
Tyce got to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin farm...
 Another pic from the hayride...
 His whole class...
Tyce holding hands with his friend Luke...
Playing on the old fire truck...
They LOVED this giant jumping pillow...

 Punk wouldn't smile...

Tyce and some of his friends (Luke, Kenshi, Leah, and Luke)...
Tyce LOVED his pumpkin and has carried it around ever since.  Unfortunately, toady the stem broke off.  But he still loves it!

Tyce is such an independent social butterfly he just thrives in situations like this.  He LOVES to be with his friends and could've cared less that I was there, haha.  He has so many friends and he is so loving towards them.  We had a great time!!!  Oh, and side note...that was the first day Tyce was medicine free and felt great!  Yay for recovery!!! :)

Tyce's Surgery

Last Thursday Tyce had his tonsils and adenoids removed due to problems with sleep apnea.  I was super nervous for the surgery, even though it's a "minor" and "routine" surgery I still worried about putting him under anesthetic and about the recovery.

Here he is on the drive to the hospital (it was super early so he was a little out of it)...

After we got all checked in they got him dressed and then we waited for an hour.  He was a happy angel...

When it came time to take him away (they don't let parents go back with their child anymore) he just smiled and waved.  All the other kids were bawling!

The doctor said the surgery went well, he was so brave!  Here he is when I first saw him..
We came home and he slept for about three hours then spent the rest of the day laying on the couch...
When he woke up from his nap he was in a lot of pain and really grumpy, then he saw the balloons that Grandma and Grandpa Morrill had sent for him he was SO excited!  He said "how did the balloons get here all the way from Utah without getting lost in the clouds?"  Hahaha...
We are going on day five of recovery and it has been ROUGH, to say the least.  Right after he takes his Motrin (the doctor won't give him anything stronger since he's under six) he's pretty happy.  In fact, he went to pre school the very next day!!  As soon as the meds wear off he is MISERABLE.  He isn't eating or drinking much and has lost three pounds already.  The problem is the past two days the Motrin isn't lasting as long so he has more hours of pain.  The past two nights have been miserable, he is up like every three hours bawling.  I left a message for the ENT today and am waiting to hear back.  Here are some sad pics of him..
He always has his hands over his mouth like this when his throat hurts.  Fine by me because it covers up his nasty dragon breath that comes with a tonsillectomy!

Hoping that his recovery speeds up, poor little angel.  It is so hard to see him in so much pain!  :(

Update

Time for a quick update on the Morrill family!  Nothing too exciting going on these days.  Jack and Josh are doing really well in their separate classes, they don't seem to miss each other but seem happy to be together after school.  They are still enjoying soccer.  Tyce LOVES preschool, absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every day.  He is learning a lot and loves his teacher.  He is still playing soccer, although I don't think he loves it.  I'm thinking maybe we started him too young.  Parker and I are just being mom and dad, housewife and provider, and trying to find time for each other in between all the craziness.

Here are some cell phone pics I wanted to add...

Brody is seriously the most awesome/unique cat.  When  I go for my morning runs he waits for me by the fence where I stop running and start walking and then he does my cool down with me, walking right next to me.  It's so cute.  When he first sees me he meows and runs over to me.  I love that he has a dog like personality without the high maintenance aspects of actually having a dog!
We went on a walk and this was too cute a pic to pass up on...
Despite our busy evenings we try to get story time in each night, Jack and Josh are really good readers and I attribute that, in large part, to Parker reading to them every night since they were very little.  It's also some much needed daddy time for the boys.
Josh lost his first top tooth!  Ah, bring on the big ugly adult teeth!  Hahaha!

Traci and I are doing a swap this school year where she takes Tyce after preschool on Mondays and I take her girls on Wednesday.  It works out so great because we get breaks and the kids get to play together.  Tyce LOVES Traci's house, it's probably his favorite place to go.  Here are the kids making cards at my house last week...
Ah homework time.  Don't let this picture fool you...rarely is this what it looks like.  Josh is pretty good at doing his, Tyce LOVES homework, Jackson...ah he's so difficult!  Some days he's perfectly fine but he's very unpredictable, he can turn into tantrum mode in no time.  His teacher assigns lots of homework and we've just got to find a way to make it work for everyone.
Sunday evening, all my boys watching football while I slave away in the kitchen making them dinner...the joys of motherhood!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love baby Anna?  I love that Traci lets me snuggle on her babies so I get my baby fix without having to actually have them myself.  :)  She's three months now and growing up way too fast!

In other news, Tyce gets his tonsils and adenoids out tomorrow morning...I'm nervous about it but ready for it to be over and for him to start sleeping better.  I'll update on him soon!!!
