May Fun!

Here's what we've been up to in May...

Tyce's class went on a field trip to the Hogle Zoo.  I was supposed to chaperone but my foot hadn't healed enough by then so I was pretty bummed to miss it.  Tyce came home SO excited because he "brought back a souvenir from the zoo."  I was confused because I hadn't sent him with any money!  Then he pulls out...A MAP!  Hahaha, this kid LOVES maps and collects them everywhere he goes!  Cute little tourist nerd boy!

May 2nd was the two year anniversary of my grandpa's death.  It was a sad day with lots of tears.  We went and visited his grave with my sister, cousins, and Grandma.  We took turns going around saying what we loved most about Grandpa which was emotional but tender and sweet.  After the grave we all went to Red Robin for dinner and had a really good time together, which is what Grandpa would want.  I love and miss him terribly every day but am so grateful for the time I still have with my dear sweet Grandma.

Tyce doing his "big eyes" which always makes me laugh...
Bluffdale City just built a brand new city hall (which is where I work) and I took the boys to the ribbon cutting ceremony.  They were so excited to see the big scissors!  They wiggled their way to the front so there they are front and center by the mayors!
The 5th grade had a 5k on Cinco De Mayo.  Josh's fantastic teacher, Ms. Fisher, was in charge so it was fabulous!  They had been training for it and were ready to go!

Poor Jackson, in typical Jackson fashion, twisted his ankle so he had to walk about 1/4 of it...

Josh got 17th and Jackson got 19th (out of 160 kids).  Crazy that they ended up so close!

Took Jackson to the orthodontist and he was pretty excited to be in the Jackson Hole room...
Also took him school clothes shopping, he requested all basketball shorts and sporty clothes for summer, he looks cute in them but I do miss the days where I could dress him in whatever I wanted!
And the big news...MY SISTER HAD HER BABY!!!  She called me at work telling me she was in the hospital and so I finished work, ran my errands, got my boys situated at home with dinner, then took off to the hospital.  I got there at the perfect time because, within the hour, she had baby Audrey!  She let me stay in the room which was so awesome.  Two pushes and out she came!

 6 precious perfect pounds!

The proud mommy and daddy...
And the proud Auntie  :)

The next day I took the boys to the hospital to meet their newest cousin.  They were smitten by her and wanted to hold her forever...

Dentist visits for these three, cavity free yet again!
Then it was Josh's turn for school clothes shopping!  This kid LOVES shopping for clothes!  When I picked him up from school I said, "are you excited to go shopping?"  He responds, "yes, it's like my most favorite thing to do EVER!  Even more than playing sports!  Well, maybe a tie between shopping and beating an easy team in basketball."  Cracks me up.

We had a super warm Saturday that resembled summer so we had Kesti, Christine, and their boys over to run in the sprinklers and have pizza.  I am not ready for blazing heat but this sure felt nice!

We tried blowing up our awesome pool but, alas, after almost 8 summers...it is no more.  It no longer holds air so we are in the market for a new one but ones like this are hard to find!
So the highlight of this month, other than baby Audrey, is Tyce's play!  He is in an acting class called Up With Kids and they have been practicing since September for their play.  It was Beauty and the Beast and it was very well done.  Here's Tyce as a villager in the back...
And here he is as Peter Pan, yes Peter Pan in Beauty and the Beast.  They needed more parts for all the kids so they had creative ways to incorporate other Disney stories also.  He LOVED his role and did a great job!  He learned his lines in about 10 minutes and has been singing the songs for months.

LOVE this kid!  The other day we were talking about how I used to want a girl and Tyce said "but mommy, just think, if you hadn't had me you would have never gotten to see ME as PETER PAN in my PLAY!  Aren't you so glad you had me??"  He is so right!  Every day I am grateful for my Ty Ty, he is my mini me and is the life of our family.  Love him!

Grandma Morrill and Grandma Bybee were able to come watch him (Grandma Bybee left before we took pics).  So nice of Grandma Morrill to make the long drive but I'm pretty sure she'd agree Tyce/Peter Pan was worth it!

Mother's Day!  My favorite day of the year!  It is the one and only day I can feel guilt free being lazy and letting my family do all the work.  Sweet Josh made me this...

They got me a lounge chair for the deck which I'm super excited about.  Josh decided to try it out for me...
Tyce wrote me a sweet card and made me a little magnet?  Kind of a weird gift but he was super proud and excited so I made a big deal :)

Jackson's class didn't do anything for their mothers (which I think is pretty lame) so he had to make his card on his own but GOSH was it SWEET and THOUGHTFUL!

Then I laid out on the deck and enjoyed the sun while Parker made me a yummy curry dinner...
Guess who's back at the gym?!  I am no where near 100% but I got the go ahead from the doctor to do the stationary bike as long as I wore my driving boot.  The first day I went, after only 30 minutes, I was actually SORE!  Pretty sad how fast you can get out of shape but how long it takes to get back INTO shape!  I long for the days of long runs and no foot pain...
Ok, so we kinda can't stay away from baby Audrey.  We headed down to Lindsay's to see her and the baby.  Josh has always been really cute with babies, especially little girls.  He is obsessed with Audrey.  When I told him "when you're done holding her we can go" he replied "well, I'll never be done holding her!"  So glad we moved to Utah so they can have these cousin bonds!

And last but not least, poor sick Jackson!  My kids have super immune systems and very very very rarely get sick at all let alone sick enough to miss school.  Last Monday Jack started not acting like himself, low energy and not wanting to do much.  Tuesday night we took him to Urgent care and they diagnosed him with croup, gave him steroids, and said he should feel better soon.  The rest of the week he had 103 fevers, tummy ache, cough, sore throat, congestion, headaches, and his biggest complaint was pain behind his eyes.  I finally caved (I'm so not the mom who brings her kids to the doctor for every little thing) and brought him in early Sunday morning and poor guy has a bad sinus infection!  He's also lost five pounds in a week!  So he is now on antibiotics for that and hoping he starts feeling better!  He was pretty miserable last night, woke up crying a few times, and was miserable this morning.  I gave him meds then let him go back to sleep then brought him to school when I went to work.  He missed all his state testing last week so he'll have to make that up this week.  But despite this very rough week, Jackson is such an angel when he is sick.  He never complains, it's like pulling teeth trying to get him to tell me what's wrong.  He never asks for anything, just sits there and suffers in silence.  Such a sweetheart and it broke my mommy heart to see him so miserable.  Here's hoping this week he perks up!

That's the first half of our month!  Looking forward to this weekend, Tegan graduates and Parker and I get a weekend in Jackson Hole!
